What is psychological coaching?

Coaching is a structured, goal-oriented and collaborative process that supports individuals in achieving personal or professional development through guided conversation and reflection.

Psychological coaching combines principles of psychology with coaching techniques to enhance self-awareness, improve decision-making and build resilience. Unlike therapy, it focuses on future goals rather than addressing past issues and it is aimed at improving mental strength, emotional regulation and adaptive functioning, without treating mental illness. It is rooted in psychology and evidence-based strategies such as Cognitive Behavioral Coaching – particularly focused on identifying and reframing unhelpful thoughts and behaviors.

About

I am a trained cognitive-behavioural coach, with a strong foundation in psychology. Along traditional coaching (goal-oriented), I focus on emotional self-management such as identifying troublesome emotions, self defeating behaviours and thoughts by using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Coaching (CBC).

Originally from Romania, I completed my master’s degree in management and economics in Berlin, Germany and started my professional career as a consultant for an international management consultancy specializing in enterprise performance management and spent over a decade in the corporate world of various well-known German largest companies. Along with my relocation to Brussels, I decided to follow my longtime interest in psychology and neuroscience. I continued my studies in psychology and trained as a cognitive-behavioural coach at the Centre of Coaching in London and I am currently a member of Association for Coaching.
